Stephanie Alder showed us behind the scenes at the Central Archives. It is her job to look after all the records and exhibitions. She explained that from 1753-1916 the trustees wrote down everything in the minutes. We were shown a large index to the trustees minutes. She tells us that the minutes were formulaic, speak of the building 1st and then finances and so on. Everything is organized by how it was presented.
We got to hold an incendiary shell that hit the building during WW 2. It was quite heavy. We also got to view the library applications for several famous individuals such as Beatrice Potter, Bram Stoker, and T S Elliot.
One object Stephanie showed us was a stereoscopic viewer and photos. We all got to view a Gigantic Irish Deer photo. She also showed us photos taken by Frederick York in 1875. He loved to photograph animals.
We also viewed building plans and property records. There was the deed for the Montague House and the exchange of title between owners.
There were many amazing items that we were able to view and touch.
So spent the afternoon in Upton Park visiting The Who Shop. You can visit the website at http://thewhoshop.co.UK. I had so much fun browsing the shop, but even more fun viewing the museum they have put together. They have the TARDIS console from the set production in 1989. They have the official Van Gogh costume worn in the series 5 episode "Vincent and the Doctor" as well as the ray gun used by Christopher Eccleston in series 1. More than 75% of the costumes are original fans were used in this show Doctor Who. They even have K9 from the tv spinoff.
It was so much fun. My friend practically had to drag me out.
That is all for now...
